Best Pickleball Court Booking Software for Facilities (2026)
By the PickleCourt USA team · Updated

The short answer
For a member-based club that needs detailed booking rules and waitlists, CourtReserve is the most thoroughly documented. For a branded app or several locations, look at Playbypoint. For a new pickleball-only venue that wants scoreboards, replays and unattended hours, PodPlay is the one aimed squarely at it. For a gym or rec center that rents a court by the block alongside other rooms, Skedda/AllBooked's rules engine fits. The decision that matters most is how players get through the door, because every one of these tools relies on a separate lock provider with its own hardware and fees. Everything below comes from the vendors' own help pages; nobody paid to be listed, and we don't sell software.
Who this guide is for
Park and recreation departments, gyms, community and rec centers, hotels, apartment and HOA managers, pickleball clubs and anyone who is about to let the public book time on a court. If you only host an occasional event, a calendar and a payment link may be enough. Booking software starts to pay off when you have recurring demand, more than one court, member pricing or a door that has to open without a person standing there. It also matters if you rent or buy portable courts for a gym: the court is useful only if people can find, book and get into it. Our gym floor court guide and buy-versus-rent guide cover the court itself; this one covers the booking side.
How we compared them
- Door access: which lock providers connect, how the code or unlock is issued, and who sets permissions
- Booking rules: limits, booking windows, buffers, quotas and cancellation controls that protect court time
- Waitlists and open-play handling, because empty courts and crowded courts are both revenue problems
- Memberships, programs and leagues, and whether they are built in or an add-on
- What the tool needs on the court: hardware, gateways, add-on fees billed by a third party
- How much the vendor documents publicly, since a clear help center is a fair test of what you'll live with
We left prices out. Software fees, per-court charges, lock hardware and integration add-ons change and often depend on your plan, so ask each vendor for a current quote in writing. We also did not invent ratings or scores. The products are listed in no particular order of quality.

CourtReserve
Best for: Clubs with several membership tiers and heavy rule needs, indoor or outdoor
CourtReserve describes itself as club management software for tennis, pickleball and padel facilities and says it sits behind more than 2,300 of them; that count is the company's own marketing figure, not something we verified. What stands out in its help center is how detailed the booking rules are. Under Booking Settings you can cap reservations by minutes, number of courts or number of reservations per day or week, apply limits that only switch on during prime time, control concurrent and outstanding bookings, and require spacing between a player's reservations. Booking windows can be opened or closed by membership type, court type, court, day and time, with a custom message replacing the default closed-window note. A membership type can carry its own reservation rules that override the global ones, so a junior or off-peak membership can be restricted differently from a premium one. Waitlists come in three forms: court waitlists (up to 25 players each, and each player can sit on at most 100 active spots), membership waitlists when a membership type hits its enrollment cap, and league-session waitlists. One honest caveat from the help article: the default court waitlist is first come, first served, so being on the list does not guarantee the open slot. For doors, CourtReserve integrates with two providers and explains the trade-off plainly. Brivo gives each active player a static PIN and can also admit certain membership types without a reservation, which suits indoor clubs with wired infrastructure and regulars. RemoteLock generates a unique PIN for each reservation or event window on battery-powered locks, which suits guests, rotating events and sites where running wire is hard. The help center says the RemoteLock integration carries a monthly add-on fee on some plans and that RemoteLock hardware and fees are billed separately, so ask for the current terms.
Playbypoint
Best for: Clubs that treat their own brand and app as part of the product, or run several sites
Playbypoint's pitch is a white-label app: your club's logo and name on iOS, Android and mobile web, with memberships, recurring billing, programs, lessons, clinics, round robins, league seasons, registrations, waitlists and rosters behind it. It also lists an in-app pro shop, a feature that lets players find open games and fill idle court time, reporting on court utilization, and centralized dashboards for multi-location operators. Its door documentation is the most step-by-step of the group. A Pre-Reservation Access and Check-In Window setting (for example 15 minutes) controls how early a player's booking unlocks the door. Entry Access Codes can act as a backup or alternative, with a default code and optional day-specific codes. An open-main-door rule can allow or deny access by player affiliation, such as members yes and guests no, though the help article says Playbypoint support must enable that setting first. With RemoteLock, players see an Unlock Door button inside an active booking, and a facility can expose several locks, for example a front door, a court entrance and a locker room. PDK setup asks for your API version, System ID and Cloud Node ID, then syncs your devices so you choose which doors players can open from their booking. Kisi and Smart Padel (which syncs lights and locks) have their own help articles. The pattern across these pages is that permissions are configured with Playbypoint support rather than entirely self-serve, so ask how much you can change yourself.
PodPlay
Best for: New pickleball-only venues planning cameras, scoring and unattended access from day one
PodPlay is the one product here that markets itself specifically to pickleball venues rather than racquet clubs in general, and it bundles hardware into its higher tiers. Per its plans page, Basic is a white-label web app, Basic+ adds branded iOS and Android apps, Pro adds cameras, iPads or monitors, digital scoreboards and video replays, and Autonomous adds remote door access and 24/7 remote monitoring. PodPlay publishes its venue-plus-per-court monthly pricing and says the hardware tiers need per-court equipment, so budget for hardware as well as software; we left the numbers out so this guide doesn't go stale. Its door documentation says each court is assigned an access provider and lock IDs, and that check-in on a reservation or event unlocks the right doors; Kisi and RemoteLock are always available, while OpenPath, PDK and Verkada appear after an administrator configures them. PodPlay's own FAQ says about a quarter of its 200-plus locations operate fully autonomously, the largest with eight courts. That is the company's figure, and it is a useful reminder that unattended operation has so far been a small-venue model. On pricing mechanics, PodPlay's owner documentation recommends a Court+ model where the reservation holder books the whole court and invites friends to split the cost, with a club-defined day-pass fee charged to non-members who join a member's booking. The stated reason is to stop one person paying while several others play for free. Scoreboards connect to DUPR so players can submit scores for challenge matches.
Skedda / AllBooked
Best for: Gyms, rec centers and mixed-use spaces that rent a court for blocks of time alongside other rooms
Skedda's support site documents both a Kisi integration and an AllBooked access-controls article, and AllBooked has a pickleball booking page, so we treat them as one vendor family; confirm which product and plan you would actually be buying. The AllBooked pickleball page lists booking conditions (for example coaches only 7 to 10 AM), access and visibility rules (members only for the main court), add-ons such as ball or paddle rental, buffer time between bookings, quotas such as two hours per member per day, repeat bookings, cancellation windows and check-in prompts. It also advertises a website booking embed, analytics, and integrations through Zapier. That rule engine is the reason it suits spaces that are not full-time pickleball clubs. For doors, Skedda documents Kisi through Zapier: an unlock at the booking time for 3 to 30 seconds, a scheduled unlock for the length of the booking, or an access link valid for the booking. The support article itself points out the 3 to 30 second unlock is secure but unforgiving if a player arrives late. AllBooked's Seam article describes a unique code generated for each booking, emailed ahead of the visit, expiring automatically after the booking ends, with warnings for offline or low-battery locks. For bookings made more than three days ahead, codes go out 72 hours before the start, with a reminder an hour before. Seam access is billed separately per device each month, and several lock models need a separate gateway or bridge, so check your lock against the compatibility list first.
The door is the real decision
Booking software does not open a door by itself. Each product here connects to a separate access provider, and those providers sell their own locks, gateways and subscriptions. That is why the access column in the table matters more than the feature list. Ask three questions before you sign: which lock brands and providers does the software support natively, who pays for the connection (some vendors charge a monthly add-on on certain plans, and Seam access is billed per device), and who can change door permissions afterward. Playbypoint's help pages say several door permissions are configured by its support team, while PodPlay's documentation shows administrators assigning a provider and lock IDs to each court in the dashboard.
One-time codes or member codes
CourtReserve states the trade-off clearly. A static member PIN (Brivo) means fewer codes to manage and suits regulars. A one-time reservation PIN (RemoteLock) expires with the booking, which is safer for guests and rotating events but means players get a new code for each visit. Skedda/AllBooked takes the one-code-per-booking route through Seam, while its Kisi route unlocks for a few seconds at booking time or for the length of the booking. Pick the model that matches who your players are.
Late arrivals and early arrivals
Playbypoint lets you set a pre-reservation window so a player can enter, say, 15 minutes before the booked time. Skedda's own article warns that a three-to-thirty-second unlock leaves no room for a late player. Decide how forgiving you want to be, and check whether the setting is yours to change.
Lights and other equipment
Playbypoint documents Smart Padel automation that syncs lights and locks, and AllBooked's pickleball page mentions controlling lighting from bookings. If your courts are lit, find out whether lights follow the reservation or need a separate timer. Our court lighting comparison covers the fixtures themselves.
Rules that protect court time
- Limits per player. CourtReserve caps reservations by minutes, courts or count per day or week and can apply limits only at prime time. AllBooked's quota example is two hours per member per day. Without limits, a few regulars take the evening hours.
- Booking windows. Decide how far ahead each group can book. CourtReserve sets this per membership type, down to the time of day the next day unlocks.
- Buffers. A gap between bookings gives you room for cleaning, ball pickup or, with a portable court, takedown. AllBooked's example is 15 minutes.
- Cancellation and waitlist rules. A waitlist fills cancelled slots without staff effort. Read how it handles ties: CourtReserve's default is first come, first served among people watching the schedule.
- Guest handling. PodPlay's Court+ model charges a non-member who joins a member's booking a club-defined day-pass fee; other tools handle guests through membership types or access rules. Decide how you want to treat guests before you configure anything.
Scenarios
A parks department or HOA with a locked court block
The simplest fit is a tool that ties a door code to each booking, with limits per household so no one holds the courts all evening. Look at the one-code-per-booking options (CourtReserve with RemoteLock, AllBooked with Seam) and price the lock hardware and gateway before you compare software. Our HOA court guide and parks department guide cover the approval and layout side.
A gym or rec center that lays down a roll-out court for set hours
Treat the portable court as its own bookable space with buffers for setup and takedown. Skedda/AllBooked is designed around spaces with different rules, and CourtReserve can open or close windows by court type, so a pickleball block never collides with another sport.
A new pickleball-only venue
PodPlay is aimed specifically at pickleball and offers the hardware tiers, but you are committing to cameras, screens and, for unattended hours, door access and remote monitoring. If you want a simpler start, CourtReserve or Playbypoint will handle bookings, memberships and leagues without the extra on-court equipment.
A club adding open play and leagues
Check the details of open play: how it is booked, how it is limited and how a waitlist behaves. PodPlay's documentation describes a hybrid pattern of court pricing for reservations plus membership perks aimed at open play. CourtReserve and Playbypoint both document leagues and waitlists; in CourtReserve, leagues are an add-on you enable.
Adding courts people will book?
Tell us the site, how many courts and whether the court will be a buy or a rent. We'll quote a roll-out court with surface, lines and optional net packages. Quote only.
Pickleball court booking software FAQs
What is the best booking software for a pickleball facility?
It depends on the shape of the facility. CourtReserve has the deepest published booking rules and waitlists for member-based clubs. Playbypoint is the choice when a white-label app and multi-location control matter. PodPlay is aimed specifically at pickleball venues and bundles scoreboards, video and unattended-hours tools in its higher tiers. Skedda/AllBooked fits gyms and rec spaces that rent a court by the block alongside other rooms. We rank none of them; each is described from its own documentation.
Can a pickleball facility run without staff on site?
Some can. PodPlay's Autonomous tier combines door access, QR check-in and remote monitoring, and its FAQ says about 25% of its 200-plus locations run fully autonomously, the largest with eight courts. The other three tools here also tie door access to bookings through RemoteLock, Kisi, PDK, Brivo or Seam-connected locks. Unattended operation still depends on your insurance, local rules and emergency plan, so treat the software as only one piece.
How do booking apps unlock the door for players?
They connect to a separate door-access provider. The player books a court, and the software tells the lock system to open for that window. Methods differ: a one-time PIN per reservation (CourtReserve with RemoteLock), a static PIN per member (CourtReserve with Brivo), an Unlock Door button in the booking (Playbypoint with RemoteLock or PDK), a timed unlock or emailed link (Skedda with Kisi), or an emailed code per booking (AllBooked with Seam). The lock hardware and the access provider's fees are usually separate from the booking software.
How do I stop one player from hogging courts?
Use the tool's limits. CourtReserve can cap reservations by minutes, courts or count per day or week, with prime-time-only limits and spacing between bookings. AllBooked offers quotas such as two hours per member per day and limits on how far ahead people can book. PodPlay's documentation recommends booking a court at a set rate and letting the holder invite and split costs, with a day-pass fee for non-members, to avoid the free-rider problem. Set the rules to match your busiest hours, not an average day.
Does booking software work for a roll-out court laid down inside a gym?
Yes, if you model the court as its own bookable space. Give it its own booking windows and buffer time for setup and takedown (CourtReserve supports windows by court type; AllBooked supports buffer-time rules) so a pickleball block never overlaps basketball. Our gym-floor and buy-versus-rent guides cover the court side of that decision.
Does PickleCourt USA sell or recommend one of these tools?
No. PickleCourt USA quotes roll-out pickleball courts (surface plus lines, with optional net packages) to buy or rent for facilities, parks, HOAs, homes and events. We are not a reseller or partner of any software vendor on this page, and nobody paid to be listed. If you are planning a court that the public will book, tell us about the site and we will quote the court.
